Scar Treatments
Starlux 1540 Fractional Laser for treatment of scars
The Palomar Lux1540 FractionalTM Laser Handpiece delivers light in an array of high precision microbeams. These microbeams create narrow, deep columns of tissue coagulation that penetrate well below the epidermis and into the dermis, while sparing the tissue surrounding the columns from damage.
The coagulated tissue within the columns initiates a natural healing process that accelerates the formation of new, healthy tissue. Coagulated cellular debris is expelled as the skin is resurfaced.
Over the past few years, we have had increasingly successful results treating a variety of scars with Non Ablative Fractional Resurfacing, often combining it with IPL and/or Deep IR Skin Tightening.
Throughout the process, the integrity of the stratum corneum is maintained, which protects the tissue from infection as it heals. The result: faster dermal remodeling and skin resurfacing. At left: Cross-section of treated skin.
High Efficacy, No Downtime
The Palomar Lux1540 offers greater energy per microbeam, and greater depth of penetration (up to 1 mm) than any competing device. This stimulates quick healing within the surrounding deep tissue for the most effective deep corrections and long-term dermal remodeling obtainable.
In addition, the Lux1540 delivers uniform microbeam penetration, a consistency that can't be matched by systems that use a scanning approach.
Treatment Options
The Palomar Lux1540 features easy-change heads for different treatment approaches. The 10 mm spot size head delivers fluences up to 100 mJ per microbeam (mb) and creates a 100 mB/cm2 array of columns for deep coagulation.
The 15 mm spot size head delivers fluences up to 15 mJ/mb and creates a 320 mB/cm2 array of narrower columns for relatively shallow coagulation.
Speed and Convenience
The Palomar Lux1540 does not require topical anesthesia, and is much more comfortable than many other non ablative resurfacing treatments currently offered.
Safety and Comfort
The Palomar Lux1540 delivers its microbeams in one short pulse at a time with active contact cooling. Lux1540 treatments are significantly more comfortable than systems that deliver beams over longer periods of time.
The 10 mm uses strong built-in cooling which protects the stratum corneum, minimizes discomfort, and enables practical use of high energies without anesthetic.
The 15 mm head uses moderate built-in cooling, which protects skin between microbeams while allowing sufficient heat to affect more superficial indications.
